About Us

What is Toronto Post?

Toronto Post is a digital news publisher that gives you clear, practical coverage of Toronto, the GTA, and the Canadian stories that affect your life. This page explains who we are, what we cover, how we work, and how to get in touch—so you know exactly what to expect from us.

We are owned and operated by Northern Beacon Media Inc., an Ontario corporation, and published from our registered office in Toronto. Every article you read on torontopost.org is written by a named journalist, reviewed by an editor, and fact-checked before publication. Our mission is to deliver trustworthy journalism without spin or oversimplification.

What does Toronto Post cover?

We cover municipal affairs, provincial policy, national news, business, technology, and public-interest stories—all with a GTA lens that keeps Toronto readers front of mind. Whether it’s a city council vote, a new provincial regulation, or a local community event, we aim to make the news useful and understandable.

Our beats include City Hall and transit (led by Municipal Affairs Editor Hannah Walsh), provincial policy and regional economics (led by Provincial Affairs Editor Jessica Morin), neighbourhoods and local culture (Community & Events Correspondent Kevin Sullivan), plus business and tech stories that matter to the GTA. We also report on national stories that directly affect Toronto readers, from federal policy changes to major economic trends.

We do not cover sports, entertainment gossip, or opinion pieces. All content is clearly labelled, including sponsored or commercial material, so you always know what you are reading.

How does Toronto Post produce its journalism?

Every piece of editorial content is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by a human editor, and fact-checked by our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Andrew Leblanc, before publication. We follow a formal editorial policy and a fact-checking policy that you can read in full.

AI-assisted tools may be used to support research, drafting, formatting, translation, headline options, summaries, or transcription—but those tools never replace human editorial judgement. Every piece is approved by a human editor. We never allow AI to fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, or expert profiles. Sponsored or commercial content is produced separately and is always clearly labelled; commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.

For the full standards that guide our newsroom, see our Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking Policy. If you see an error, please contact our corrections team at corrections@torontopost.org.

Who is responsible for Toronto Post?

Editor-in-Chief Catherine Roy oversees all editorial standards, publication decisions, and corrections. Managing Editor Marc Tremblay runs the daily newsroom, reviews headlines, and commissions stories. You can meet the full editorial team on our Our Team page.

Catherine Roy (catherine.roy@torontopost.org, +1 416 555 0220) is the person ultimately responsible for what we publish. Marc Tremblay (marc.tremblay@torontopost.org, +1 416 555 0221) handles editorial coordination. If you have a complaint or a concern about our coverage, please contact us first through our complaints procedure.

How this works in practice

Suppose Toronto City Council debates a new transit fare policy. Our Municipal Affairs Editor Hannah Walsh assigns the story to a staff writer. The writer drafts a piece after attending the council meeting and interviewing transit officials. That draft goes to Hannah, who reviews it for accuracy, tone, and clarity. Then it moves to Andrew Leblanc, our fact-checking lead, who verifies all quotes, figures, and names against public records and source statements. Only after Andrew clears it does the editor approve publication. If an error is later discovered, our corrections policy requires a prompt update and a publicly noted correction. This same process applies to every article—whether it’s a short neighbourhood bulletin or a deep-dive provincial policy analysis.
